Corbin Collier, P.e’s Expertise Responsible for the oversight of technical, budget, and schedule performance of projects coordinating all technical personnel utilized on the design of the completed marine system including mechanical, electrical controls and software engineering as well as integrated logistics support. Driving engineering practices of company procedures and work instructions as well as being a technical expert on the products developed and providing direction for design issues. Leader of a multi-disciplined engineering team for projects having oversight of all technical aspects of a project’s execution while working with the Chief Engineers, Engineering Director and Project Manager(s) in execution of projects and preparing the technical sections of proposals. Applying engineering principles for the production of hardware for existing designs/ design variations and producing calculations that document the satisfaction of design requirements along with producing documentation that accurately captures all shop activity necessary to construct, test, install, and operate project hardware. Utilizing design tools available to assist in the production of calculations and project documentation while supporting shop personnel with engineering issues in the construction and testing of project hardware. Forecasting and managing costs on the design of the product and the execution of the project along with evaluating and implement continuous improvements on product/process designs. Design for Manufacturing, Project Management, 3D modeling, Lofting, and Drafting of various Heavy Steel and Marine Industry projects for customers such as USACE, NYCDOT, NY & NJ Port Authority, ect. in accordance with applicable regulations such as AWS, ABS, AISC, ASTM, ASCE, & OSHA under the supervision of a Certified Professional Engineer Troubleshooting, Request for Engineering Changes, Product Research, Procurement, and Confirmation of Regulatory and Contractual compliance for various Heavy Steel and Marine Fabrication projects such as the USACE Crane Barge, NYNJR Carfloats, and the NYCDOT SIF Crane Barges under the supervision of Certified Professional Engineer Continuous Optimization of Heavy Steel Manufacturing Processes in a Commercial and Marine Industry Environment. Creating testing procedures to analyze tool material degradation due to friction stir welding w/ TSP1, MP159, H13 tool materials Utilizing Metallographic Mapping techniques, Vickers Hardness Testing, Izod Impact Testing, and SEM analysis of materials Comparing base line test results to post welded metals to analyze the effect of aluminum diffusion into tool steel grain boundaries. Designed hydraulic powered rotating platform for Straightener Roll Bushing assemblies. Used Pro-Engineer to create 3D model of structural, rotating, and hydraulic components Created fabrication and assembly drawings of rotating platform along with various reverse engineering projects Design increases safety of operators & reduces assembly time of Straightener Roll Bushing components. Assisted Dr. Reynolds in designing a uniaxial force reaction chamber for a friction extrusion machine Performed a Finite Elemental Analysis in Pro-Mechanica after modeling the structure in Pro-Engineer Created fabrication drawings of the uniaxial force reaction chamber for the friction extrusion machine Assisted Dr. Kidane in performing Quasi-Static, Hopkins Bar, and Shock Tube testing methods with Digital Image Correlation to analyze the material properties of polytetrafluoroethylene-Al-W granular composites. Optimized Water Sprayed Cooling System for Electric Arc Furnace Roof and Duct System Used SolidWorks to create 3D model of spray system to ensure optimal water coverage while reducing water consumption Created fabrication and assembly drawings of spray system for both EAF Roof and Duct System Doubled the lifetime of EAF Roof and reduced water consumption of EAF roof & Duct System by 37% & 52% respectively. Assisted a team to create a Training Tactical Operation Command Center for Department of State Created 3D Model (Co-Create) and helped design support structures for utilities Helped create drawing package under time constraints and governmental specifications Training Tactical Operation Command Center is currently in operation in West Virginia utilizing implemented structural designs. Received and verified accuracy of fabrication drawing from specific customers Detailed parts for specific departments and Nested parts to be cut on plasma burn table Ordered all material for specific jobs and worked with project managers to follow schedule Performed labor tasks specifically pertaining to rigging, fitting, and welding, and steel fabrication trades.
